Every image size Etsy asks for, in one place — listing photos, your shop banner and icon, and how the file limits for digital downloads work.
Listing photos
Listing photos are the images buyers see in search results and on your product page. Etsy recommends your first photo be at least 2,000 pixels on the shortest side so buyers can zoom in. Square or landscape photos tend to display most predictably across search, the app and the website.

If your photos are larger than you need, resize a copy down before uploading: smaller files load faster for buyers and upload faster for you, with no visible loss of quality on screen.

Digital download file limits
If you sell digital downloads, the rules for the files buyers receive are different from listing photos:
- You can attach up to 5 digital files per listing.
- Each file can be up to 20 MB.
- Buyers download the files themselves after purchase — nothing is resized automatically.
That's why printable wall-art sellers usually bundle several print sizes into a single ZIP: one ZIP counts as one file, and well-compressed print files stay comfortably under 20 MB. Our print ratio guide covers which sizes to include.
A quick workflow that works
- Resize one version of each photo to around 2000–2500 px on the shortest side for your listings.
- Check the thumbnail crop in Etsy's preview before publishing — adjust so the subject stays centred.
- Keep your original full-resolution files untouched, and resize copies instead.
